Guided by local fitness instructors, the event created a powerful sense of unity as each rider pledged at least $200 in donations—many exceeding their goals.
‘Fitness Off the Ice’ sessions engaged non-cyclists, broadening community involvement and fundraising efforts.

Santasiero's, a cherished Italian restaurant founded in the 1920s on Niagara Street, is set for a vibrant comeback under new ownership.
After closing last year following the passing of fourth-generation owner John Brands, the beloved eatery will be revived by community members Mark Longo, Jennifer Hurley, and David Capretto, who purchased the property for $625,000.
The new team is committed to honoring Santasiero's traditions, preserving classic recipes, and maintaining the restaurant’s friendly, old-school atmosphere.
Plans include subtle renovations—like new tabletops, Italian cane-back chairs, and brighter spaces—while adding sidewalk patio seating for the first time.
The reopening coincides with a surge of renewal on Niagara Street, marked by vibrant spots like the new West Side Bazaar and Britesmith Brewing.
